you got mail .....

I love my post man, especially when he brings me mail. Some goodies that have arrived.

These came from superbuzzy. I love the shop but postage is a killer. They go on price not the amount they can fit in an envelope. I love the car fabric. I first saw  it on  noodlehead and went searching for it. The apples were a steal at $6 a yd.

A package from hawthorne threads. The avocado damask is for my SIL and the skaters and bmx fabric is to make a pencil case for my nephew. the rest is for me. I have no idea what I will do it with, which is fairly usual when I buy fabric.

What do you buy for a 6yr old boy, who is crazy about animals?? Some elephant fabric for a pencil case. I bought a scrap pack from beautiful work on etsy. I love this fabric. Im a bit nervous about putting a zipper in tho. From the same shop I got some more scrap packs.

This is for my niece for a .. you guessed it a pencil case. I love this fabric its so girly and cute.

Also from beautiful work.

Aren't these cute!! Kawaii for you recently had a 30% sale birthday sale and I picked these up. I love the apple memo pad.

Apart from buying stuff. I have also done some sewing.

Lil explorer overalls for M (that need an iron). I made them a little different to how the pattern suggested. I made a casing for the elastic instead of stretching the elastic and sewing over the top of it. I also put the buttons on the strap (next time I will interface the straps) and the button holes on the bib section. I did this so it is easier for me to lengthen or shorten the straps.

back view
I like the back view of these overalls. I usually cross the straps over tho. I dont think it would suit an older child tho. The pattern goes up too a size 5.

My first go at sewing with interlock. I got the pattern from wabi sabi baby. I thought the pattern looked huge but it fit M really well. I was surprised at how easy it was too sew with interlock there might be more pants in the future. The pant legs do line up its just how they were laid out. I also had to go to big w to buy some long sleeve tops so M could wear these pants.

Next project I am going to attempt is a pair of pants for K he was quite upset that I havent made him any clothes. I like to make for M because if I screw up its only a small amount of fabric. I will make K the lil explorer shorts in denim in size 5. I also want to try quilting, I really like this quilt and I have found a charm pack on ebay for $20 so relatively cheap if I stuff up.

Lil M's MIP explorer shorts

So, I got some sewing done. My first paper pattern completed yay! I much prefer online tutorials with all their lovely photos of every step. But I'm getting there.

Here is lil M modelling his shorts, made with a cotton/linen blend from SL and MM bungalow stripe.

too busy watching tv
and the back view.
Lil M loves TTTE.
Sorry about the mess and the yoghurt on his pants.

I will be attempting some o&s sandbox pants when I get time. I have some chocolate cord waiting but I might need to buy some more material for the lining. Definitely not needed but I'm thinking some Riley Blake all stars 2 in orange would like nice.

P.S would you believe Lil M is only 8 months old and the pants are a size 1 with only a lil bit of growing room.
